In 1972 I went on a journey to my ancestral home, Vienna, where my grandfather was born. I studied painting there, and also was introduced to working with pastel on a special paper with a velvet like surface, flocked as it was called. I continued working with this technique for a number of years after I returned to the US. There are landscapes, these pastel paintings were mainly done in Woodstock with trees, clouds, the valley, the woods, some more realistic, some magical and mysterious. This is a large body of work and only some of them are posted here. My subject matter revolved around landscape and the figure, with inner visions and realms being revealed. I have used a number of them in videos that I made to be found here: A series that was done during the time of my pregnancy and the birth of my first child is also seen here:
